Job Description & RequirementsSPECIFIC\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n \n\n\nUnder\nlimited direct supervision:\n\n\n \n\n\n20% Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia\nincluding: preparation of anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival,\nplacement of anesthesia monitors, ensuring the cleanliness of anesthesia\nequipment, ensuring availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and\nsupplies and the set-up of medications and supplies where applicable. Continuously\ncommunicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs and anesthesia technologists\nto ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubations\nand the placement of central line catheters. \n\n\n \n\n\n20% Operate the cell-saver\nmachine, keep track of lab reports, and participate in cardiac, liver transplant, vascular,\nthoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases. Work directly with service-specific\nfaculty Division Chief of designated specialty. \nProvide on-call coverage.\n\n\n \n\n\n20% Provide\nprimary support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good working\norder and preventive maintenance is completed. \nSet up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced\ntroubleshooting. Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining\nspecialized equipment. \n\n\n \n\n\n15% Assist\nthe Chief Anesthesia Technologist in the development and implementation of\nin-service training programs. Assist in training of staff in the roles and\nresponsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.\n\n\n \n\n\n15% Perform\nanesthesia equipment set up and troubleshooting such as testing Infusion pumps,\nnerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors, calibrating\nanesthesia machines, and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the video\nmonitor.\n\n\n \n\n\n5% Set-up rooms between\ncases, set-up carts throughout the day and provides full service set up at the\nend of the day. Work with other hospital\nunits to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Perform\nset-up and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care ensuring proper\nequipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n5% Provide back up to shift supervisor\nin his/her absence due to vacation or illness. \nPerform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief\nAnesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager.\n\n\n \n\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n\n· \nBLS\n\n\n· \nTwo\nyears of experience as an Anesthesia Tech\n\n\n \n\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: \n\n\n· \nA\nfour year college education, including related technical training; or a two\nyear college education which included technical training closely related to\nthis position and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of\neducation and experience. \n\n\n· \nCertification\nby the registry of the American Society\nof Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body\npreferred.
