Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Python or Java Backend)

Location: Hybrid - New York City (2-3 days onsite per week)

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python or Java Backend) to join a dynamic & robust team that is changing the legal industry and delivering the most sophisticated research platform on the market. This is a hybrid role, requiring up to 3 days onsite per week in our Manhattan location. You'll be playing a pivotal role in optimizing, scaling and developing one of the top research platforms.

Responsibilities

• Migration of platform to modern infrastructure
• Drive innovation in keyword and semantic search by expanding core capabilities.
• Embrace and implement best practices for operating large-scale, distributed systems.
• Take full ownership of technical solutions—from design and development to deployment and production support.
• Bring a deep passion for search technologies, distributed systems, and metrics-driven engineering.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you're encouraged to take bold risks, meet challenges head-on, and consistently exceed expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Python, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
• Proven track record in architecting scalable, distributed systems using industry best practices
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, with a focus on design principles and clean, maintainable code
• Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills and a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and support
