The Team Lead: Web position requires an experienced, reliable and results-oriented person who enjoys making new things and helping to make old things work better. This role will be a significant contributor to our platform through your coding, planning and collaboration skills. We have challenging problems to solve and love working with smart people who can help us solve them.
Essential Functions including but not limited to:
- Write well designed, testable, efficient code that's easy to understand and well tested
- Understand the needs of our business and help us find the best path to meet them while building awesome software
- Troubleshoot problems, diagnose the issues to help understand what went wrong
- Collaborate closely with product and QA teams to implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces across the Alula Connect web app.
- Build and maintain UI features for retrieving, displaying, and patching device and user data
- Work on a variety of projects with minimum supervision, perform effectively from sprint planning to DevOps
- Provide support and participate in the Scrum process to ensure quality work plans for each sprint and into the future
- Create a collaborative environment with other team members to ensure the team's overall effectiveness
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Perform special projects as directed by management
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education, Work Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years of hands-on frontend development experience using modern JavaScript
Core Technical Skills
- Proficiency in JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks, with experience in Angular, React, and Bootstrap
- Proficiency with Node.js
- Experience or familiarity with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Proficiency interfacing with HTTP endpoints (REST APIs, RPC APIs) and WebSockets from a web application
- Understanding of relational databases and query development in PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or similar database technology
- Experience with Jest or similar front-end testing frameworks
Tooling & Platform Experience
- Proficient in version control using Git, including Git Flow or similar branching strategies
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using CircleCI and GitHub Actions
- Experience deploying and managing services on Heroku
- Knowledge of background job processing tools such as Sidekiq
- Exposure to feature flagging tools (e.g., Flipper) and localization platforms (e.g., Lokalise)
- Familiarity with transactional email systems like Mailgun is a plus

- Experience working in modern application environments with continuous integration, deployment, and instrumentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to model and visualize processes and system outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed or cross-functional team
