Food Service Manager Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry (VLM) Camp Vermillion Mission: VLM provides opportunities for Christ-centered spiritual growth, leadership development, and outreach in God's great Northwoods. Position Overview: The Food Service Manager at Camp Vermillion is responsible for the overall management of the camp's food service operations. This includes menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Food Service Manager also plays a role in welcoming guests and assisting with property maintenance as needed. Accountability: Reports to the Associate Director for Operations. Manages: Hourly food service staff at Camp Vermillion Responsibilities: 1. Food Service Management: o Plan, prepare, and serve meals that accommodate a variety of dietary needs for retreat guests, summer campers, and staff. o Manage the kitchen, including food ordering, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards. o Follow all policies of the organization including purchase request, and receipt reporting. o Supervise kitchen staff and volunteers, providing training and support as needed. 2. Menu Development: o Develop nutritious, appealing, and cost-effective menus that reflect the needs of various groups and events. All meals should meet the food cost standards set by the organization. o Incorporate feedback from guests to continuously improve food offerings. 3. Hospitality and Guest Services: o Assist with welcoming retreat guests and campers, ensuring a positive, Christ-centered experience. o Work closely with the Retreat Coordinator to ensure that food service enhances the overall guest experience. 4. Property Maintenance Support: o Assist with minor property maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the camp. o Collaborate with other staff to maintain cleanliness and functionality in dining and kitchen facilities. 5. Other Duties: o Represent the ministry in a positive manner to the community. o Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Operations, including but not limited to supporting special events, cleaning, and participating in staff meetings.
