SUMMARY Provides technical assistance to groups of HCCS faculty and staff in the creating and developing ideas for addressing specific Request for Proposal from funding agencies. Manages the development of grants to ensure they are comprehensive and completed in a timely manner. In addition, ensures that the completed proposal meets the agency guidelines and is prepared in a professional style. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Analyze funding agency program guidelines and regulations to determine HCC's eligibility and presents findings to the Department Director. 2. Develop short- and long-term list of programs to which HCC will write grants. 3. Organize and lead teams of grant developers in fully developing grants or contracts. 4. Conduct grant writing classes for HCC faculty, staff and the general community which focuses upon development of needs analysis, objectives, plan of operation evaluation and budget. 5. Maintain database of contracts and grants submitted by HCC. 6. Collect and research data, using intuition and experience to complement data. 7. Design workflows and procedures. 8. Generate creative solutions in translating data and statistics into graphics for inclusion in proposals. 9. Gather and analyze information, demonstrating attention to detail. 10. Focus on solving conflict and remains open to other concepts and ideas. 11. Pursue training and development opportunities, remaining open to other concepts and ideas. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in a closely-related field required. Applicant must have a valid Texas driver's license. EXPERIENCE 5 years experience in writing, editing and proofreading grants to regional, state, and federal governmental agencies and the private sector required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Possesses excellent communication skills, writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively before groups. 2. Able to read and interpret documents such as the federal register, application guidelines and OMD Circulars. 3. Able to calculate figures and amounts to develop budgets for grant operations based on guidelines and regulations. 4. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 5. Strong writing, analytical, organizational and research skills. 6. Able to produce high-quality materials while adhering to multiple deadlines. 7. Knowledge of MS Office programs and database applications. 8. Occasional overnight travel within the state required.
