Overview To implement educational/recreational programs to ensure participants have a variety of learning resources to provide a safe environment, coordinate special events, and collect class fees while maintaining standards of professionalism to the external/internal customers. Must be prepared to deal effectively with emergency and stressful situations at any time. Recreation Centers operate Monday through Friday during the school year from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Responsibilities •Responsible for the supervision of up to 3 staff members •Advise and suggest to the staff to improve overall of site, supervisor children 6 - 16 years of age •Address any concerns/needs expressed by the children •Continuously redirect children to limit any possible disciplinary issues •Ensure kids are signed in upon entering recreation site •Receive and issue receipts for recreation classes, prepare revenue reports and deposit monies at the close of the day as needed •Ensure all information on participant registration forms is always up to date •Prepare and assist with daily reposts such as incident reports, discipline referrals •Plan and execute weekly/monthly special events for the center •Work with local non-profit agencies to provide special programs and activities for children •Instruct and lead children in various recreational games and activities •Ensure that there is constant communication with custodial and administrative staff •Communicate daily with parents/guardians while providing excellent customer service •Conduct monthly fire and service weather drills, playground checks, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers checks Position Type and Typical Hours of Work •Non-Exempt - Temporary- Part-Time •Non-rotating 25-hour work week, Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-7:30pm •Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement •In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services. Minimum Qualifications •High School Diploma/GED •Six (6) months of experience Preferred Qualifications •One (1) year of experience Licenses and Certifications Required •A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire •CPR and First Aide certificates must be obtained before hire date Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: •Criminal Background Check: Yes •Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes •Drug Screening: Yes •Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
