Job Description :

The Media and Cultural Studies Department at Macalester College seeks candidates for a position in Critical Digital Studies/Practice at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track). We are open to a wide array of specializations within critical digital studies, including, but not limited to, the areas of gaming, interactive and immersive media such as VR and AR, 3D filmmaking and modeling, artificial intelligence, digital journalism and other forms of digital storytelling, and data visualization. An ideal candidate will be able to teach digital literacy in the context of broader questions of justice, representation, critical theory and history, and/or civic engagement. We are particularly interested in candidates who integrate elements of practice, broadly conceived, into their teaching and research, preparing students to use digital media as a creative tool and instrument for social analysis and cultural change.

Benefits and Compensation

The starting salary range for this position will be $83,000-85,000, depending upon experience. If this search is being run for an advanced assistant or associate level candidate, salary would be higher and based on internal equity.
