Summary: Provides specific security managerial oversight of all departmental shifts and locations, the incumbent also performs diversified administrative and operational tasks of a responsible and discretionary nature to ensure effective and efficient 24-hour a day, security operation for all healthcare facilities within McLean area of operations. Manages operational personnel, assures appropriate security response, proper follow-up procedures on all incidents and that all documentation is accurate and complete. Participates in the formulation and implementation of departmental strategic planning, procedures. policies, and coordinates the implementation of specified operational initiatives, participates in the annual preparation of the department budget and ensures that hospital employees, visitors and patients heed hospital policies and practices relating to security issues, assesses, monitors and ensures that departmental training for departmental training of operational staff is completed. Manage and control overtime budgetary objectives and implement strategic processes. Responsible for monitoring certain building management and life safety functions and works collaboratively with key departments to ensure that the physical environment of facilities is maintained according to hospital standards and lease requirements. No Essential Functions: Participates in interviewing and hiring process for operational staff; provides orientation to new employees; evaluates capability, performance, efficiency and appearance of staff on a routine basis, completing formal performance evaluations annually. Provide strategic leadership that ensures operational staff are optimizing to their potential. -Assesses and participates in the training needs of operational staff; conducts training sessions in a workshop/classroom setting. -Works with department management team in its total quality management efforts in order to improve services, enhance productivity and support to the hospital community. -Monitor and track workplace violence prevention statistics, make improvements on results and adjust results within a timely manner. -Serves as member of departmental Senior Management Team, and MGB Security Council. Participates in departmental goal setting, policy and program development, and long and short-term objectives Director -Coordinates departmental and hospital-wide projects, committees and initiatives. -Serves as liaison to law enforcement officials, hospital departments and/or organizations providing such services including, but not limited to, problem resolution, customer service functions, special parking needs, and maintains working relationship with landlord representatives to assist in resolving building issues/concerns. -To maintain congruency with all applicable policies within McLean, MGB and appropriate external authorities (Joint Commission and Departmental of Mental Health). -Manage parking standards and procedural objectives to ensure a safe parking environment for staff, visitors and patients. -Ensures that required departmental, hospital, JCAHO, OSHA, CMS and other safety standards are adhered to by assisting with problem resolution -Conducts both security surveys and risk assessments of facilities and individual department areas
Education Associate Degree or 60 college credits required.
Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? 5 years of Security Supervisory, 4 years active military, or 5 years of sworn law enforcement experience. Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Supervisory Certification [CHSS] - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred Personal Driver's License (New Hampshire) - New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles preferred Experience supervisory experience in operations environment 8-10+ years required experience in hospital, security/police, emergency medical or customer services 3-5 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong interpersonal and, communication, and customer service skills.
