Job Title: Quality Control Department: Processing Location: Mt. Victory, Ohio Reports To: Processing Manager Job Type: Full-time Travel: Minimal Compensation: starting $21.00/hr Job Summary: The Quality Control position is responsible for ensuring that the plant complies with all regulations set forth by federal and state guidelines as well as company policies. The QC role collaborates directly with the QC Lead, Plant Manager, Food Safety Manager, and Logistics Manager to guarantee that production processes meet the necessary food safety and quality standards. This position is critical for the implementation, documentation, and review of Trillium Farms' food safety and quality assurance plans and procedures. Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure that all products meet or exceed USDA, company, and customer specifications.
- Monitor and verify compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal food safety and quality procedures.
- Perform daily monitoring and testing of wash water, rinse water, pH, employee hygiene, cooler temperatures, and other critical control points.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of quality control activities.
- Maintain all test instruments and supplies in proper working condition.
- Perform pre-operational sanitation inspections to ensure equipment is clean before processing begins.
- Conduct ATP swabbing procedures to verify equipment cleanliness prior to processing.
- Sample and inspect liquid egg products for safety and quality assurance.
- Inspect tankers before loading to ensure they meet sanitary standards.
- Perform microbiological testing of liquid egg product samples.
- Monitor and ensure sanitary conditions are maintained during processing.
- Oversee and ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are being followed.
- Communicate deviations or deficiencies to management and compliance teams in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide support to operations to ensure plant efficiency while maintaining compliance with all food safety and quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with all internal and external food safety, quality, and site safety policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Promote a culture consistent with Trillium's Guiding Principles and Core Values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Food Safety Manager, Food Safety Manager, or site management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Technical Skills: Understanding of food safety regulations, quality control standards, and HACCP principles.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organized, goal-oriented, and accountable.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control in a food manufacturing environment. HACCP certification is strongly preferred.
- Tools/Software Proficiency: Proficiency in maintaining logs, using test instruments, and possibly utilizing simple computer programs for reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Food safety or quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while inspecting products and equipment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and perform tasks that require reaching and lifting.
- Able to maintain a fast pace for up to 3 hours continuously.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing or egg production environment.
- HACCP certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a definite plus.
Work Environment: This position involves working in a manufacturing environment where employees are required to stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
