LC State invites applications for the position of Human Resource Associate.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $21.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in a Human Resources or administrative support role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable facilitating orientation sessions and delivering training related to HR policies and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with employment laws.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague.

Responsibilities:

The HR Associate is responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for incoming departmental calls, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate HR staff member.
  • Conducts benefit overviews with job candidates.
  • Assists with coordinating and participating in the delivery of human resource training, including new employee orientation, recruitment, policies and procedures, etc.
  • Coordinates the Professional Development Training and Warrior Wellness programs. Sets up weekly professional development and wellness classes for faculty and staff.
  • Coordinates the annual employee benefits and resource fair.
  • Maintains and updates the HRS and Professional Development / Warrior Wellness websites.
  • Processes I-9's and new hire paperwork for new employees and verifies employment eligibility through E-Verify.
  • Places advertisements for vacant positions and supports recruitment functions such as composing announcements, assisting with recruitment plans, and explaining application and hiring processes.
  • Enters new employees and employment updates into the Luma HR system (GHR), and understand the payroll function in Luma Payroll (WFM).
  • Recommends feedback and changes to human resource policies.
  • Coordinates, processes, and tracks Family Medical Leave forms (FMLA) for employees.
  • Coordinates and manages workers compensation program. Responsible for tracking workers compensation forms and working with State Insurance Fund personnel.
  • Conducts thorough search committee training for all searches.
  • Maintains employee records.
  • Responds to employee inquiries both orally and in writing.
  • Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
