Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Elevator Field Operations Modernization Director to lead and grow our modernization and repair operations across South Carolina. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of technical expertise, project management, and team supervision.You will report directly to the General Managers of two operations, as well as the President and VP of Field Operations. The ideal candidate will work with tools as needed and progressively oversee a growing team of technicians and helpers.Key responsibilities:Project execution and supervision- Perform and oversee complex elevator modernization and repair projects- Supervise field personnel, providing direction, technical training, and performance management- Manage project scheduling and labor allocation using project management toolsSales and estimating support- Assist the sales team with customer visits and technical assessments- Participate in estimating labor and material costs; attend pre-bid meetingsSafety and compliance:- Administer and enforce company safety policies and procedures- Conduct safety audits and ensure compliance with OSHA and elevator industry codes- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state, and local elevator code requirementsOperational leadership:- Oversee all modernization activities from site survey to project closeout- Conduct quality audits and site visits to ensure safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction- Resolve customer issues and internal challenges with professionalism and efficiencyAdministrative and financial oversight:- Approve change orders, purchase orders, and project turnover documentation.- Review job status reports, identify risks/opportunities, and report revenue fade issues.- Approve vendor invoices and track accounts receivable.Vendor and customer relations:- Manage subcontractors and coordinate project timelines- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, and architectsEducation and certifications:- High school diploma or equivalent required- Certified elevator technician or elevator mechanic license requiredTechnical skills:- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, hoisting and rigging tools- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in elevator applications- Proficient with PC-based applications (such as, databases, spreadsheets, scheduling, and word processing)Experience:- Minimum of 5 years in elevator/escalator maintenance, repair, or modernization (multi-manufacturer experience preferred)- Experience leading field teams and managing modernization projectsSoft skills:- Strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities- Ability to interpret technical documentation and government regulations- Problem-solving mindset with attention to safety and qualityAdditional requirements:- Valid driver's license with availability for regional travel- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overnight stays- Adherence to all applicable safety codes and company standardsBase salary, $130K - $150K with a path to $170K within 2 years.
