Free File Program Manager
Location: Easley, SC
Salary: $45,000 – $55,000/year (commensurate with experience)

United Way of Pickens County is seeking a highly motivated and organized professional to lead its Free File program, a local implementation of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) initiative. The Free File Program Manager is responsible for full program operations—managing seasonal staff and volunteers, coordinating tax sites, maintaining IRS compliance, and ensuring outreach to underserved taxpayers in Pickens County.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and supervise seasonal Site Coordinators and IRS-certified volunteers
- Oversee site logistics, technical needs, and taxpayer service quality
- Ensure program compliance with IRS standards
- Develop and execute volunteer recruitment and training strategies
- Track program outcomes and manage reporting via TaxSlayer and MyFreeTaxes
- Collaborate on grant writing, budget management, and community outreach
- Partner with the marketing team to promote Free File and recruit volunteers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, social work, education, or related field
- Strong project management and people leadership skills
- Comfort with technology (laptops, Wi-Fi, printers, troubleshooting)
- Willingness to become IRS-certified as a VITA preparer and site coordinator
- Valid driver's license and ability to work some evenings/weekends during tax season
