Title: MDS Manager

Location: Watertown, NY

Duration: Permanent

Guaranteed Hours - 40 Hours Weekly

Shift - 8 hour Days

Pay Range : 85,280.00 - $99,840.00

Job responsibilities:

  • Maintains current MDS status of each resident according to state and federal guidelines as required under the Omnibus Reconciliation Act, Medicare PPS + Medicaid payment systems as applicable. Responsible for MDS/RUGS education. Provide MDS education for staff.
  • Conducts focused audits to ensure documentation supports the clinical, regulatory and financial needs of the Resident.
  • Functions as a liaison between medical providers, Residents, family, and payers to obtain maximum reimbursement for Resident care services.
  • Conducts screening of Residents, and medical records to identify those at higher risk of needing more extensive and/or acute care.
  • Accurate and timely documentation in medical record including clear communication with other members of interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordination of Resident care conferences as needed to facilitate appropriate services, and level of care.
  • Participates in surveys (inspections), and audits conducted by authorized government agencies and payers.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of computer systems, system applications and other office equipment.

Licenses & Certification:

  • Minimum Experience Requirement:
  • Previous experience within an LTC/Geriatric care required.
  • Knowledge of Nursing and Medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care, including PPS.
  • Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid and payer regulations.
  • Previous experience with quality assurance, documentation review, and appeals process.
  • Current NYS licensure as an RN required. Recommended: Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator (RNAC) certification.
