Animal Technician
12-month contract
40 hours/ week - may need to be available during weekends
Onsite in Lexington, MA
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily in-life procedures including rodent handling, dosing, and health monitoring.
- Administer compounds using various routes, including oral gavage (PO), intraperitoneal (IP), and subcutaneous (SC).
- Collect biological samples such as blood and tissue with high technical precision.
- Monitor animals post-procedure and post-surgery for recovery and overall well-being.
- Conduct necropsies and tissue collection for analysis.
- Perform anesthesia and euthanasia in compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain inventory and stock of animal care and research supplies.
- Provide technical support in the administration of injections and other procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant SOPs, regulatory standards, and quality assurance protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in animal science, laboratory animal care, or in vivo research.
- Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, or a related field preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with rodent handling and in-life measurements.
- Proficient in dosing techniques (PO, IP, SC) and biological sample collection.
- Experience in animal anesthesia, euthanasia, and post-surgical monitoring.
- Familiarity with laboratory compliance standards and animal welfare regulations.
- Excellent documentation skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional research teams.
