California Miramar University seeks an accomplished and visionary University Director of Academics to lead the ongoing advancement of our academic programs and initiatives. This leader will oversee all academic operations, research and oversee the development of innovative new programs, revitalize existing offerings, ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and guide a high-performing faculty toward continued excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Strategy
- Provide leadership and oversight for all academic programs across San Diego and San Jose campuses.
- Ensure all programs reflect CalMu's mission, uphold academic excellence, and meet the evolving needs of students and employers.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define and implement the academic vision and strategic priorities.
- Foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the academic community.
Curriculum & Program Development
- Lead the research, design, and implementation of innovative new undergraduate and graduate programs aligned with industry demand.
- Evaluate and revamp existing programs to maintain relevance, rigor, and competitiveness.
- Monitor industry trends and proactively adapt curricula to prepare students for emerging career opportunities.
- Support the effective use of teaching technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and digital tools in delivering high-quality instruction.
Student Success & Career Alignment
- Design and implement academic frameworks that support strong student retention, achievement, and career placement outcomes.
- Collaborate with Career Services to integrate employability skills, certifications, and real-world learning into academic programs.
- Build and sustain academic–industry partnerships to strengthen program relevance and graduate employability.
Faculty Development & Oversight
- Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, development, and evaluation processes to ensure instructional excellence.
- Support faculty in meeting high standards of teaching, scholarship, and professional growth.
- Encourage a high-performing academic team committed to student success and institutional goals.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory bodies (e.g., DEAC, BPPE), as well as federal and state standards.
- Lead preparations for audits, self-studies, and reporting required by internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive ongoing assessment, quality assurance, and continuous improvement efforts within academic programs and operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in a relevant field required; Doctorate degree is preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in a senior academic leadership role such as Vice President of Academics or Corporate Director of Academic Affairs, with proven success in enhancing program quality and compliance.
- Must be based in San Diego and available to work full-time on campus
- Technical Skills: Student Information Systems (SIS), such as CampusVue or similar, Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle or similar, Microsoft Office 365, familiarity with AI tools in education.
