Posting Details Position Information Job Title Youth Protection Officer Position Number 977314 Department Business Services Salary $48,253 - $56,737 Job Summary/Description The Youth Protection Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing university-wide policies and procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of minors participating in youth programs on the Angelo State University campus. This role ensures institutional compliance with state laws and university standards, provides training and guidance to program staff, and serves as the primary point of contact for youth protection matters. The officer collaborates across departments to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and legal compliance in all youth-related activities. Typical Duties/Job Duties
Assist in implementing youth protection policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and institutional standards. Help design and deliver training programs for faculty, staff, and volunteers on youth protection practices, including mandatory reporting, backgrounds checks, and appropriate interactions with youth. Provide guidance and support to Program Operators and departments on youth safety practices. Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting and managing incidents related to the safety and protection of youth. Analyze data and generate reports to track compliance, incidents, and program effectiveness. Collaborate with relevant Angelo State University departments (Office of Admissions, University Police Department, Housing and Residential Programs, Athletics etc.) to ensure a coordinated approach to youth protection. Maintain accurate records of youth protection training, incidents, and other compliance activities. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge
- Strong understanding of state and federal laws related to child protection, including mandatory reporting and background check requirements.
- Familiarity with higher education environments and youth program operations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects.
- Additional job-related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a role related to child protection, public safety, compliance, or a similar field, with 3-5 years of experience in higher education preferred.
