The Concertmaster, as first chair of the Violin section, holds a position of leadership for the orchestra and assists the Conductor in all facets of Greenspring Valley Orchestra (GVO) programming including planning and overseeing activities, rehearsals, and performances in accordance with School of Design, Arts and Communication, and University strategies, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with planning, preparing for and managing rehearsals and performances; assisting with recruiting, training, and mentoring students and an all-volunteer community orchestra. Education/ Experience Bachelors degree in Music or in a related field (Masters degree preferred), plus three years professional experience as leader in university, community, or professional orchestra. Proven ability to direct musicians and to provide a performance experience of the highest caliber.
