Job Responsibilities
  • Perform transportation assignments under the direction of a licensed engineer with clear and specific objectives and increasing technical difficulty
  • Assist with the preparation of transportation projects, reports, and documentation including plans development, horizontal and vertical alignment design, grading plans, temporary traffic control plans, and other items as needed
  • Perform occasional tasks to cross-train in multiple design disciplines such as drainage/stormwater design, planning, traffic, and others
  • Application of basic techniques, theories, precepts and practices in small and large transportation engineering projects
  • Occasionally required to gather offsite field data accompanied by a professional engineer
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 0-4 years of experience in Transportation design preferred
  • Certified EI - Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a team-based environment
  • Design software skills including Microstation or AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer experience a plus
  • Knowledge of FDOT design manuals such as FDM and Standard Plans Index is preferred
  • FDOT or local municipal project experience is a plus
  • Light to moderate travel in efforts to collect offsite field data
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions may be required
  • Ability to work extra hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed as the project schedule demands
