Demonstrates knowledge of safe Chemotherapy Administration. Assesses the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient including reviewing blood work before proceeding with ordered chemotherapy and consult with physician regarding results prior to chemotherapy administration. Demonstrates verification of correct medication and documents chemotherapy based on established hospital protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of extravasations protocols. Administer Blood Products in accordance with Brookdales transfusion policies and procedures including protocols regarding donor crossmatch process. Administer chemotherapy by infusion and injection, in accordance with accepted guidelines, including proper vein selection and assessment of venous catheter patency. Demonstrates knowledge of pediatric weight-based medications, dosages, calculations and administration.
