The anticipated hourly pay for this role ranges from $30 to $32 upon starting. However, actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and location-specific pay structures. You might also qualify for additional rewards such as bonuses and/or equity awards.

The Maintenance and Operations Technician plays a pivotal role in supporting our North American Application & Technology Center of Excellence. Working collaboratively with Test Engineers, Supervisors, and Biotechnologists, this hands-on position involves setup and maintenance of equipment, execution of experimental tests, and ensuring hygienic pilot plant systems and workspaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a range of pilot plant equipment, including:
    • Bioreactors and fermenters
    • UHT and thermal processing systems
    • Vacuum mixers and dryers
    • Membrane filtration systems
    • Aseptic processes and utility systems (water softeners, RO systems, air compressors, boilers, chillers)
  • Disassemble and reconfigure systems as needed according to specifications.
  • Perform cleaning of equipment and areas to uphold food-grade hygiene standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on mechanical and utility equipment, including seal replacements and inspections while coordinating with external service providers.
  • Monitor inventory of consumables and safety equipment, assisting with parts orders.
  • Ensure compliance with all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards through training and proper documentation.
  • Support team efforts by taking on additional responsibilities as directed by your supervisor.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A technical degree in mechanical trades or at least 3 years of maintenance experience in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or biotech environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating automated production equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • Basic mechanical assembly skills and maintenance experience with sanitary liquid processing components.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and basic control systems.
  • Commitment to safety standards and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sanitary welding.
  • Familiarity with pilot plant operations and experimental testing settings.
