The City of Chesapeake seeks entry-level and experienced professional Procurement Specialist candidates. There is a career progression program in place that provides procurement specialists the opportunity to advance through the I, II and III level! Hiring ranges: PSI : $49,300 to $65,400; PSII : $54,400 to $72,200 ; PSIII : $49,300 to $65,400. Hiring salary dependent on qualifications/experience. $2,000 sign-on bonus for new hires and hires from other City of Chesapeake departments. The City will compensate for experience in public procurement, especially at the local government level. Required Qualifications Procurement Specialist III : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in purchasing, marketing, business management, or a closely related field. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three years of related, full-time equivalent experience. Procurement Specialist II: Requires a bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing, marketing, business management, or a closely related field. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent Procurement Specialist I: Requires a bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in purchasing, marketing, business management, or a closely related field. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this job class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience or a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a position that requires the following professional skills: coordination of people, programs, tasks and/or money; written and verbal communication; customer service; attention to detail; and working in a team environment. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards . SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties Preferred Qualifications CPPO , CPM , or CPPB certification desirable.
