Position: Grant Evaluator Classification: Full-time, Exempt Reports to: Project Coordinator Location: Houston, TX Position Description: The Grant Evaluator position is responsible for operationalizing research and evaluation requirements of grants and contracts. These responsibilities include data management, outcome evaluation design and implementation, statistical analysis, and report writing. This position will also conduct process evaluation, assist in contracts management and reporting, and be responsible for the management of large, complex databases. Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct and coordinate a variety of data collection methods and instrumentation by administering/mailing questionnaires, implementing survey research, and conducting interviews and focus groups. Design and maintain databases using relevant software (e.g. SPSS, Teleform, Excel and Access). Collaborate in the design of various studies, including but not limited to research, evaluation, cost benefit analysis, and/or outcomes studies. Lead grant and contract monitoring, outcome evaluation, and research activities. Conduct project/program meetings according to established schedule and/or as needed. Maintain documentation and records appropriate for reporting and in compliance with Agency, departmental, and/or funder's policies and requirements. Follow funder and agency policies and requirements with accuracy and attention to detail. Collaborate with programs to make changes to program design by staying current and incorporating (as appropriate) new programs, policy and evidence-based practices. Collaborate in proposal, manuscript, and special project development for submission, publication, and presentation. Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports as required by the funder and/or the Agency. Prepare and coordinate site/monitoring visits. Write handbooks/manual required by the grant/contractor. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science or a related field.
- Experience in grant project-monitoring.
- Experience writing grants, contract reports and renewals
- Work-related experience with statistical analysis and relational/flat databases.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, implement process and outcome studies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Understanding of performance measurement, logic models, and outcomes tracking.
- Knowledge of evaluation tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with grants management systems.
- Skilled in compiling and preparing timely and accurate reports.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple grants with overlapping deadlines.
- Skilled in maintaining detailed grant files and documentation.
- Respond to changes in funding rules, priorities, or data systems with resilience and agility.
- Identify discrepancies or issues in reporting and propose corrective actions.
- Work cross-functionally with program staff, finance, and development teams.
- Maintain accuracy in financial and programmatic tracking, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
