Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Employee Experience, the Employee Experience Specialist I (Training & Development Specialist I) plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the organization's learning and development initiatives. This position works cross-functionally to assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs aimed at effectively onboarding, developing, coaching, and supporting staff, management, and physicians in achieving organizational goals. The Specialist actively contributes to onboarding and employee engagement efforts that drive individual and team performance, increase retention, and support a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and facilitating onboarding, engagement, and recognition programs across various levels of the organization. Duties & Responsibilities
  • New Employee Orientation & Onboarding:
  • Facilitates and participates in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the organization-wide New Employee Orientation program, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Develops and maintains training materials and resources to support orientation content.
  • Provides onboarding support post-orientation by offering tools, checklists, and guidance to help new employees integrate into their departments.
  • Advises managers and team leaders on best practices for effective employee integration and engagement.
  • Learning Program Support:
  • Manages pre- and post-learning activities including communication, registration, materials distribution, and tracking through the Empowers Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Provides end-user support, troubleshooting issues and offering guidance related to LMS use.
  • Measures and analyzes training effectiveness through metrics such as attendance, completion rates, assessment scores, and learner feedback.
  • Prepares reports to demonstrate compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards, and updates programs accordingly.
  • Wellness Program Development:
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based wellness programs and services.
  • Participates in wellness-related communications, including social media, app content, and promotional materials.
  • Participates on the Wellness Committee to boost employee engagement and ensure successful program implementation.
  • Events & Recognition Initiatives:
  • Collaborates on the planning and execution of hospital-wide programs and special events, including logistics coordination (e.g., venue, speakers, catering, A/V).
  • Assists in the creation of communication materials such as invitations, event programs, and registration databases.
  • Supports organizational engagement and recognition efforts across departments.
  • Administrative & Vendor Management:
  • Manages relationships with vendors to ensure the timely delivery of supplies and services within established budgets.
  • Prepares correspondence, dashboards, and reports; compiles data for presentations and internal use.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Any one or any combination of the following, totaling four years (48 months), from the categories below:
      • credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields
        • 30 semester hours equals 12 months
        • 60 semester hours equals 24 months
        • 90 semester hours equals 36 months
        • 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 48 months
      • credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in fields other than those previously listed
        • Bachelor's Degree equals 3 years (36 months)
        • Master's Degree equals 4 years (48 months)
      • work experience as a human resource or training professional
    • Two years of professional work experience in the training and development profession 1
    1 A Master's degree in education or other fields closely related to training and development (such as human resource administration or business administration) or a Master's degree with a concentration in these fields may be substituted for one year of such experience. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in organizational development, training and development, or related discipline
  • Skilled in designing and facilitating engaging onboarding programs that reflect organizational mission and values.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to deliver content to diverse audiences, including nurses, physicians, administrative staff, and allied health professionals.
  • Ability to manage logistics, documentation, scheduling, and coordination with multiple departments (HR, IT, Compliance, etc.).
  • Skilled in streamlining onboarding workflows and ensuring policy and procedural accuracy.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Demonstrated training delivery skills
  • Ability to manage goals and deadlines while handling multiple projects
  • Ability to consult and interact with various levels leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional project teams
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
