DescriptionPOSITION STATUS: This position is grant-funded and it is possible position may not extend past the one-year funding period. Maintaining this position throughout the grant cycle will be contingent upon meeting administrative and program requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate grant funded Tribal Youth Initiative to engage youth in exploring the natural resources management field. Responsibilities include recruitment of participants, public relations and community outreach, conduct community workshops, record keeping, program reporting, attend required trainings, and all other program, financial, and administrative duties assigned. Facilitate youth-led community events and activities including, but not limited to, recruiting participants, maintaining communication with partners and Tribal Plan and oversee additional activities that support Youth Development Outcomes and assist in establishing Clubhouse program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission. Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in Natural Resources program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). Exercise leadership to assure safety and development of members while able to discipline members in a fair manner and uphold club rules by utilizing guidance and discipline plan. Ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that club equipment is maintained in good working condition. Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity. Oversee proper record keeping and/or grant reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues. Advise Unit Directors of needed supplies and equipment and repairs and maintenance. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings and trainings. Participate in planning and implementing Club special events and represent the Club through Community outreach activities. Will work a non-traditional workday with some scattered hours. Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary to carry out the purpose of the organization. RequirementsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of two years' experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth. One year of college coursework in Natural Resources or related field required; Bachelor Degree in related field A combination of education and directly relatable experience may be substituted on an individual basis. Applicant may be required to complete working interview and/or submit written tasks. Must submit a resume. Knowledge of the mission, priority outcomes, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs. A high level of enthusiasm and commitment to serving youth. Grant program and administrative experience preferred. Experience in creating and implementing lesson plans. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Group leadership skills required, including thorough understanding of group dynamics and the ability to work with many different personality types. Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision. Must display initiative and self-motivation. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications; or willing to obtain May be required to obtain Mental Health First Aid Certification. Must maintain compliance with background check policy, which includes a pre-hire drug screening. Computer knowledge required. Must be able to travel when required. Knowledge of traditional Native American values and teachings preferred. Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving Applicant may be required to obtain Chauffeur's license. Must have excellent past work and attendance record. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. Regularly, the employee must kneel, bend, push/pull, and be able to reach above shoulder level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; some projects may require assisting in moving additional, heavier items. The employee may be required to use hands for repetitive action such as simple grasping. The employee must be able to work nights and weekends and participate in activities provided to the youth.
