Overview

Catholic Charities of Buffalo is seeking a Lead Qualified Nutritionist to join our dedicated team. This role involves working collaboratively with all staff to ensure smooth and efficient clinic operations. The Lead Qualified Nutritionist will oversee the nutrition-related components of the WIC Program, adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the NYS Department of Health WIC Program Manual. Key responsibilities include determining participants' medical and nutritional eligibility, assisting the leadership team with the assessment of WIC nutrition standards (such as schedules, nutrition chart reviews, breastfeeding procedures, and Quality Assurance forms), providing leadership within the WIC clinics, and collaborating with the coordinator to identify areas for improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Provide Participant Centered Nutrition Services (PCNS) by phone or in person.

  • Assist participants with WIC Health online nutrition education.

  • All duties of the Nutrition Assistant, Competent Professional Authority and Qualified Nutritionist (See appropriate job descriptions)

  • Provide leadership in the WIC clinic: conflict resolution, team building, effective communication

  • Collaborate with the Site Coordinator in all areas of the WIC program. Inclusive of completing nutrition chart reviews, quality assurance, performance reviews etc.

  • Assists in onboarding and training process of new staff inclusive of interview and application process.

  • Provide WIC and Catholic Charities guidance in regards to standard of operation and policy and procedure

  • Assist with scheduling and day to day clinic operations in regards to staffing and participant needs

  • Responds to issues and reports to chain of command as necessary

  • Reports and identifies any participant concerns/issues as appropriate to Vendor Management or Bureau of Special Investigation

  • Complete/attend Catholic Charities, WIC and DOH trainings

  • Comply with the Agency's Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, laws, regulations, and ethical standards applicable to your position in the WIC program and Catholic Charities.

  • Travels to all sites, transports laptops, computers and other equipment to sites.

  • May have to lift up to 30lbs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • WIC Qualified Nutritionist with State approved health-nutrition Bachelor's Degree

  • Basic computer skills

  • Must have reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to other WIC sites and transport equipment (sometimes in the middle of workday) such as laptops, printers, medical equipment, nutrition materials and scanners.
