Including the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Reconciles Inmate Cash Account.
  • Reconciles Commissary Account.
  • Balances spreadsheets on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
  • Pay Commissary Bills and File Monthly Sales Tax.
  • Maintains a proper amount in the Kiosk Pay Card Account.
  • Prepares daily bank deposits and sends them to the Treasurer.
  • Audits Inmate Cash Account for errors.
  • Monitors and ensures the accuracy of the deposits and accounting information received from, and sent to, the Easy Card Kiosk Company.
  • Researches and reviews old inmate cash accounts to ensure accuracy in accounting.
  • Researches and reviews inmate cash accounts older than three years for reporting to the Texas Comptrollers Office as unclaimed property.
  • Maintains all Banking Records for the Yearly Audit of the Easy Card and Kiosk Account, Inmate Trust Fund, Petty Cash, and Inmate Commissary Account.
  • Reconciles petty cash account.
  • Sends monthly report to County Auditor on petty cash account.
  • Writes checks for officers' traveling expenses.
  • Keeps up with daily, weekly, and monthly QuickBooks entries.
  • Tracks inmate medical expenses and issues payment to the general fund.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Shall abide by all Midland County Policies and City, County Ordinances, State, and Federal Laws.
  • Performs any assignments issued by chain of command and/or the Sheriff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduation or its equivalent plus at least one year of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Standard office practices and procedures; and basic bookkeeping procedures.

SKILL/ ABILITY TO

Operate computers, including word processing software; read and write memos, letters, and reports; balance accounts; analyze data; reason; operate office equipment, such as copy machines and facsimile machines; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
