Job Summary
The Travel Psychiatric RN provides specialized nursing care to patients with mental health and behavioral disorders. This role involves assessing patient needs, implementing individualized care plans, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote stabilization and recovery in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and monitor patient status.
- Administer medications and therapeutic interventions as prescribed.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and implement crisis management protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and coping strategies.
- Promote a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Arizona or compact state.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work night shifts and manage high-acuity patient populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPI or equivalent crisis prevention certification.
- Experience in travel nursing.
- Familiarity with behavioral health documentation systems and EMRs.
