POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Herricks Afterschool Site Program Director is responsible for overseeing childcare and enrichment programs. He/She/They will supervise and train all session staff and monitor compliance with all OCFS regulations.
Working Hours: 2:30 PM 6:15 PM, Monday Friday (After School will be closed on all school vacations).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Director Responsibilities:
· Supervise and ensure implementation of all safety procedures and licensing requirements in compliance with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)
· Maintain staff compliance by tracking and ensuring completion of all required OCFS trainings
· Develop and manage staff schedules; provide direct supervision and support to After School Assistants
· Serve as the primary liaison between the Herricks District Elementary Schools and the Sid Jacobson JCC
· Communicate regularly with parents to address questions, concerns, and share updates regarding their childs experience in the program
Position Responsibilities:
· Manage the daily operations of the childcare and enrichment program, supporting the safety and engagement of approximately 5080 children each day
· Collaborate on the development and implementation of a dynamic After School curriculum
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including medical logs and attendance sheets; coordinate documentation and reporting with the JCCs Youth and Childrens Programming Team
· Monitor inventory and ensure the availability of snacks and program materials
· Complete a minimum of 15 hours of annual training as required by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)
· Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMNTS
· Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and move about program areas (classrooms, playgrounds, gyms) for extended periods.
· Occasionally required to lift and carry materials or supplies such as activity kits, snacks, or equipmenttypically up to 25 pounds.
· Must be able to maintain energy and attention levels throughout extended shifts, often during high-energy youth programming in the afternoon or early evening.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Often indoor environments such as classrooms, cafeterias, gyms, or multipurpose rooms, with occasional outdoor supervision in schoolyards or on field trips.
· Direct interaction with school-age children in both structured and informal activity settings.
· The environment can be busy and fast-moving.
· Works closely with assistant directors, group leaders, school staff, and parents.
· Must be comfortable working in active, sometimes noisy environments.
Compensation details: 27-30 Hourly Wage
