About the Role:

The Materials Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials throughout the manufacturing process within the durable goods sector. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive material plans that align with production schedules to optimize inventory levels and minimize downtime. The role requires close collaboration with supply chain partners to maintain efficient procurement, storage, and distribution of materials. By leveraging lean manufacturing principles, the Materials Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material flow and reduce waste. Ultimately, this position ensures that the production team has the right materials, at the right time, in the right quantities to meet customer demand and company objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and production scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and material flow optimization.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and ERP systems.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP).
  • Experience working in durable goods manufacturing or a similar industrial sector.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and forecasting tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement material plans that support production schedules and inventory targets.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, and production teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and perform regular audits to maintain accurate inventory control.
  • Analyze material flow and supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and implement lean manufacturing improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast material requirements and adjust plans based on changing production needs.
  • Manage and lead the materials management team to achieve operational excellence and compliance with safety standards.
  • Prepare reports on material usage, inventory status, and supply chain performance for senior management.

The Materials Manager utilizes materials management and supply chain expertise daily to coordinate the procurement and distribution of raw materials and components, ensuring production continuity.
