Located in the South Carolina Sandhills region and named after the blackwater Little Pee Dee River, Little Pee Dee State Park is a subdued setting for those who want to enjoy the park's natural features or fish the still waters of 54-acre Lake Norton for bream, bass and catfish. With its easy access to Interstate 95, and picnicking and camping amenities, Little Pee Dee is popular with coastal travelers and locals alike.Visitors can explore the Little Pee Dee River swamp, examine features of the South Carolina Sandhills region and admire the Carolina Bay, a mysterious geological depression unique to the Atlantic Coastal Plain.Job Purpose and Duties:To oversee all aspects of a State Park to include but not limited to the administrative duties, operations, staffing, maintenance, revenue, resource management and other aspects of the park. To direct a staff in the day to day business of a park and in the planning of the future for the park.1) Effectively manages full-time staff and directs the activities of volunteers.2) Responsible for change funds, revenues collected, receipts and their accountability and disposition. Perform all required administrative functions to include providing accurate and timely reports in accordance with Departmental policy and procedures.3) Assures that all facilities, equipment, and property is maintained to the standards set forth by the Department. Works to provide a safe environment for park visitors and employees. Maintains and is accountable for inventory of all assets.4) Performs continued public relation activities, working to enhance the experience of each visitor through exceptional customer service.5) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.6) Ensures that park operations are operated in the most cost efficient manner possible. Assures that all activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies.7) Improve management skills and professional development.8) Practice and promote teamwork within the Park Service, throughout the region, throughout the agency and with external stakeholders.Bachelor's degree in Park Administration or related field with one year of experience in park operations.Additional Requirements:1) Use judgement and discretion in the decision making process based on established procedures and guidelines. Provide a customer friendly service oriented work environment. Experience supervising full time employees and in customer relations. Able to make public presentation and represent the park and the agency to the public and the press.2) The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. The ability to work independently or as part of a team as well as the ability to direct others.3) Must possess a valid SC driver's license.Actual Job Location: Little Pee Dee State ParkFull-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
