The employee is frequently required to walk and stand sometimes on uneven surfaces; in addition, occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Certification: NoneQualification: Valid Driver's License
Job SummaryPerform a variety of work and supervision at the Rockingham Recreation Center for Rockingham County Parks and Recreation Department. Work is performed under general supervision of the Parks and Recreation full-time staff. The position works mainly weeknights and weekends. Hours typically include 5pm-9pm Monday through Friday and/or Saturday/Sunday depending on the Center Schedule.
Essential Job FunctionsAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential duties:
•Unlock building for activities and ensure building is locked and secure after activities•Supervision of facility to ensure safety of instructors and participants•Must physically be present on site during scheduled activities•Complete a facility safety check before and after class or program to begin to include if neededbut not limited to, sweeping of floors, room set, checking doors, trash removal etc.•Setting up athletic spaces for various activities as needed•Customer Service, meeting and greeting of Facility users and guests•Use of Recreation Software, Checking in Users and/or participants, registering guest, taking payment etc.•Ensure safety of participants and facility by routine checks and communication•Attend department meetings as requested•Keep Parks and Recreation Department staff informed of issues, problems or concerns brought forwardby participants, parents, or school staff•Provide technical assistance for patrons
Knowledge•A general knowledge of Parks and Recreation activities and facility operations•General knowledge of Indoor Track Events and Meets•Some knowledge of First Aid and methods and necessary safety precautions to be used in recreation work
Skills•Understands customer service and the ability to communicate in a respectful manner•Operation of Computer Software as it pertains to the Recreation Center•Clear understanding of safety and facility checking
Abilities• Regular work attendance is required•Establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, officials, and the general public•Ability to express ideas, instructions clearly both orally and in writing
