The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is seeking a caring, organized, and enthusiastic Preschool Family Worker to join our team at the start of the upcoming school year.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization just 5 miles west of New York City in the water front city of Perth Amboy. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.

Under the guidance of the Preschool Director, the Family Worker supports the daily operations of the preschool program by fostering strong relationships with families, assisting with administrative and classroom functions, and ensuring a welcoming and professional environment for all visitors, staff, and students.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for families, maintaining open and supportive communication
  • Perform administrative duties including student record-keeping and documentation
  • Support classroom staff as needed
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant and Preschool Director with front office operations: answering phones, managing visitor check-in/out, bus duty, and student arrival/dismissal
  • Conduct or coordinate tours for prospective families
  • Support registration and enrollment efforts
  • Facilitate parent workshops and parent committee meetings
  • Meet individually with families twice annually to review student progress, assess needs, and set goals
  • Prepare and submit reports by required deadlines
  • Participate in required organization-wide trainings, staff meetings, district events, and complete mandated training hours
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student, family, and program matters
  • Assist in marketing efforts and distribution of program materials
  • Support fundraising activities and special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director or Branch Director

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or higher college degree with two year's related experience
  • Experience working in a school or childcare setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
