JOB DESCRIPTION

Chubb is seeking a skilled Commercial Lines Property and Casualty Underwriter to join its Middle Market Commercial Insurance team in our Alpharetta, GA Branch. Commercial Insurance writes companies with revenues up to $1B, including both guaranteed cost and loss sensitive program structures. This position will be responsible for growing and underwriting a book of business mainly consisting of Manufacturing, Wholesale Distribution, Professional Services, Food, Other/Business Services, Real Estate, and Cultural Institutions in the Middle Market segment. The role involves managing a renewal book and generating new business, with a focus on driving profitable growth through collaboration with agents and brokers. The product portfolio includes Package, Property, General Liability, Auto, Worker's Compensation, Umbrella/Excess, and International lines of business. We seek a highly motivated, results-oriented candidate with strong business and underwriting skills.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial performance, including profit, rate, retention, and growth, of the assigned book.
  • Meet or exceed a new business production goal of $1.2M-$1.5M while managing a renewal book of approximately $9M, both subject to change; maintain profitability across the portfolio and adhere to authority and underwriting strategies. Achieve desired pre-bind metrics such as submissions, quote ratio, hit ratio, and efficiency ratio to facilitate profitable growth and meet production goals.
  • Develop a prospect pipeline aiming for 5x the new business production goal with assigned distribution partners using advanced prospecting tools and maintaining marketplace visibility through 12+ external visits per month.
  • Identify growth opportunities within new and existing sources, and develop and execute strategic plans for new business development.
  • Achieve market penetration and manage agency relationships by building, maintaining, and nurturing connections with producers and customers.
  • Collaborate with Underwriter Associate to meet or exceed rate, exposure, and retention goals, ensuring profitability on the renewal book by retaining key accounts and coordinating with Loss Control, Claims, and other service providers. Develop strong client relationships.
  • Understand products and collaborate with other Chubb Business Units to cross-sell products and solutions through agent/broker and client relationships, including Multinational, Environmental, Ocean Cargo, Financial Lines, Product-Recall, E&O, A&H, etc.
  • Maintain internal relationships with local branch, Territory Underwriting Manager, Industry Practice Leaders, and Home Office personnel.
