Portfolio Director, Hydro Power and Dams

Reporting to the Vice-President of the Division, the Portfolio Director is responsible for developing a strategic approach to markets, clients, and projects, bringing the best solutions to increase market share in a consistent and predictable manner. The role involves close collaboration with other organizational groups for market development, tender responses, and project performance monitoring.
Location – Vancouver, BC
Your role within the team:
Growth & Sales –
- Maintain a highly visible presence with key clients in British Columbia and Yukon, and related portfolio clients across Canada.
- Participate actively in developing and executing strategies for the Canadian market to achieve year-on-year growth in volume and profitability.
- Oversee Standing Offer contracts (MSAs) and monitor project delivery performance within the portfolio.
- Lead bid preparations, develop bid strategies, make Go/No-Go decisions, and validate service offerings.
Project set-up & Execution –
Provide project delivery oversight to ensure quality projects within the portfolio:
- Manage client interfaces,
- Chair key internal meetings (kick-off, progress reviews, milestones),
- Validate change requests and contractual amendments,
- Manage waivers and claims,
- Handle risk and contingency management.
Business delivery –
- Manage a portfolio of projects to meet regional business goals, maintaining reasonable risk levels.
- Facilitate resolution of client complaints.
- Participate in monthly Business Unit Market meetings (Canada).
- Ensure maximum business efficiency while achieving growth targets.
- Experience in engineering, construction, operation, maintenance, or project management in hydropower is an asset, with 10-15+ years of experience.
