Acorn Public Library District is seeking a dynamic and experienced librarian to lead our Adult Services Department. The Adult Services Manager oversees a team of four, plans and coordinates engaging programs, develops our adult collections, and serves as a key leader in the library's operations and outreach efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Adult Services staff
- Manage the department budgets
- Plan and coordinate adult programming, including booking speakers, managing contracts, and overseeing logistics
- Manage program documentation, room setup, and track attendance and expenditures
- Select, maintain, and weed print and electronic materials for the adult collection
- Build relationships with community organizations and local businesses
- Collaborate with other departments on library-wide events
- Provide reference, reader's advisory, and technology assistance to patrons
- Support the library's online presence, including website and social media
- Assist with marketing efforts, including flyers, press releases, and digital promotion
- Act as person-in-charge in the absence of the Library Director
- Participate in professional development and maintain knowledge of library trends
- Perform other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited program or current enrollment in an MLIS program
- At least 3 years of library experience; supervisory experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency in technology, online databases, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of reference services, web-based tools, and current library trends
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently
- Ability to push carts weighing up to 100 pounds
Schedule:Full-time position, including some evenings and weekends
Pay Range: $25.93-$38.89 per hour, starting at $30.00 per hour
