Position summary:
The Technology department is responsible for developing, realizing, and implementing the strategic Digital Product Roadmap for Rainforest Alliance (including all supporting Technology processes) for all Global Business Initiatives and Assurance programs.
We seek an experienced Data Solution Architect to design, implement, and oversee the data architecture, ensuring alignment with business needs and strategic goals. This role involves creating data models, selecting technologies, and establishing data governance policies. The Data Solution Architect collaborates with data engineers, analysts, and business leaders to build robust, scalable data solutions, reviews requirements, proposes designs, and supports projects throughout their lifecycle. The primary focus is to work closely with product managers, delivery managers, stakeholders, developers, and designers to ensure data-centric solutions without introducing technical debt.
Responsibilities:
Technology Strategy & Innovation- Align technology investments with strategic objectives for a data-driven organization
- Evaluate and implement cutting-edge data technologies, including streaming platforms, cloud warehouses, and MLOps solutions
- Promote Data Ops practices and automated pipeline orchestration
- Participate in architecture boards for design decisions and standards
Data Governance & Quality- Develop data governance policies ensuring quality, security, and compliance
- Implement automated data quality monitoring systems
- Establish data lineage and metadata management
- Ensure GDPR compliance and data privacy across operations
Data Architecture & Modern Platform Design- Support ETL/ELT processes and develop cloud data architectures using lakehouse and data mesh patterns
- Design real-time streaming architectures for immediate insights
- Create event-driven data solutions for sustainability tracking
- Implement zero-copy data sharing and federation technologies
Platform Integration & Orchestration- Integrate modern data systems using cloud orchestration tools
- Design change data capture solutions for real-time synchronization
- Build scalable data products for multiple domains
- Optimize workflows for performance, cost, and reliability
Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement- Translate stakeholder needs into technical solutions
- Enable self-service analytics through intuitive data products
- Provide dashboards and insights for sustainability impact
- Support projects from conception to completion
Performance & Innovation Management- Monitor and optimize data solutions using cloud observability tools
- Stay current with emerging streaming, ML/AI, and sustainable tech
- Leverage AI and automation for organizational benefit
- Drive innovation via proof-of-concept and experimentation
- Ensure solutions scale with organizational growth
Travel & Collaboration- Travel as needed to regional offices and participate in global initiatives
The person:
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevOps, security
- Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, SAFe) and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, DevOps)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related; experience with Data tools is essential
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence peers and management
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive in setting and tracking goals
- Creative problem-solving skills and a continuous learning mindset
- Ability to manage workload, deadlines, and organizational complexity

- Excluding NY and DC: $63,655 - $90,906
- New York: $75,605 - $108,007
- Washington DC: $73,180 - $104,542
