A Brief Overview

We are looking for a highly capable Senior Construction Defect Claims Adjuster to join our team and work from any one of our offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio, or remotely from your home within the continental United States. We work together in the office five days a week to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. This individual will report to the VP of Construction Defect Claims in Northern California and adjudicate complex Construction Defect claims, providing superb results for our clients.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the role are:

  • Adjudicate moderately complex commercial construction defect claims, potentially with significant impact on departmental results, under limited technical direction within broad limits and authority.
  • Solve difficult problems requiring an understanding of a broader set of issues.
  • Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments.
  • Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine policy coverage.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties.
  • Manage claims in litigation.
  • Manage diary tasks to ensure cases move toward the best financial outcome and timely resolution.
  • Create and review reserves in line with market and Argo's reserving policy.
  • Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce claims frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management.
  • Assign and coordinate expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
  • Prepare reports for file documentation.
  • Apply creative solutions for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Negotiate effectively to provide cost-effective solutions within your limits, using various negotiation styles.
  • Process mail and prioritize workload.
  • Complete telephone calls and written correspondence with various parties (insured, claimant, etc.).
  • Demonstrate a passion for strong claim management.

Core qualifications and requirements:

  • Good business acumen, understanding how an insurance company operates and profits, and how this role impacts Argo Group and our customers.
  • At least five years of experience adjudicating construction defect claims with exposure of $100,000 or more.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. Alternatively, two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Licenses in multiple jurisdictions, including General Adjusting License in Florida, Texas, or Wyoming, or licenses in other jurisdictions. Ability to obtain additional licenses within three months of hire.

The salary range varies by geographic location, with specific ranges provided for different regions, and includes bonus potential and benefits.
