Position Summary The Community Education Navigator will work closely with the Adult Education Senior Manager to support the recruitment, enrollment, and case management of students in our Digital Literacy classes and other programs. This position will focus on outreach, client navigation, administrative support, and logistics, ensuring that classes run smoothly and students receive the guidance and resources they need. The role is vital for maintaining strong client engagement and collaboration with internal and external partners. This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring on-site work with some hybrid opportunities. Candidates must live in the State of California. Essential Functions
  • Student Recruitment and Enrollment
o Assist with outreach to recruit students for Digital Literacy classes and other programs. o Participate in community events to raise awareness about Canal Alliance classes and other services and opportunities. o Work with IT team to set up data structures and processes for enrollment. o Field inquiries from students, provide information and support, and enroll students in classes.
  • Program Coordination and Administrative Support
o Assist the Adult Education Senior Manager in coordinating classes, including scheduling and communication with partners. o Maintain up-to-date schedules for classes and other student services. o Prepare, organize, maintain and distribute Chromebooks. o In Salesforce, create classes and reports, enroll students, and maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and case notes. o Create documents, order supplies, and perform other administrative duties as required.
  • Case Management and Student Support
o Communicate with students via phone and text, primarily in Spanish, to provide class reminders, re-schedule classes as necessary, and follow-up regarding absences. o Assist students with basic tech issues or refer students to others as needed. o Provide navigation and case-management services to students, including referrals to other Canal Alliance programs and services. o Use a client-centered approach to help students stay engaged in their educational journey by tracking attendance, addressing barriers to participation, and offering guidance.
  • Collaboration and Partnership Support
o Work closely with other Canal Alliance teams and external partners, supporting joint efforts to enhance client success. o Assist with volunteer management, including scheduling and communicating with classroom aides.
  • Data Management and Reporting
o Track and report student outcomes by collecting and inputting data into the Salesforce system. o Assist in preparing reports for internal use and for grant-related purposes.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
o Support the Adult Education Senior Manager with additional administrative and programmatic duties as needed. Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in client-facing roles, preferably in education, case management, or community services.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience in education, social services, or a similar field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (REOUIRED).
  • Proficient in Chrome OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Salesforce or other CRMsystems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of adult education (preferred)
  • Cultural responsiveness.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Compensation This is a part-time (20 hours a week), non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $32 to $34 (DOE). Benefits include:

Remote work is possible up to one day per week, as job responsibilities allow. Canal Alliance observes a four-day work week; we are open Monday through Thursday, closed on Fridays. The Navigator may choose to complete the 20 hours of work per week in either three or four days. Normal work hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, however the schedule may vary based on student needs, and the Navigator must be available to work some evenings and weekends, typically 2 - 4 workdays per month.
