The following services are the foundation of public health practice: Monitor health problems; Diagnose and investigate health problems health status to identify community and health hazards in the community; Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues; Mobilize community partnerships to identify and solve health problems; Assist in Development of policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts; Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety; Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable; Assure a competent public health and personal health care workforce; Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services; participate in Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems. Job Summary Performs family support services to high risk families and clients. Follow evidence based Parents as Teachers model to educate and support families with environmental, financial, developmental, and health & safety concerns. Maintains records and completes required reports and responds to requests for information and referral. Reports To: Executive Director, Immediate Supervisor Supervises: None FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Physical Demands: Regularly walk, stand, or stoop; frequently lift, carry, push , pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; Regularly drive a motor vehicle; and work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail. Environmental Conditions: Work in an environmentally controlled building; Work exposes incumbent to communicable diseases and environmental hazards; Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles and gloves; and Work exposes incumbent to mental pressures and/or emotional stress. Available as necessary after regular office hours for routine job duties or unusual incidents. Licensing and Certification: National Family Support Exam and Certification and Parents as Teachers training - required upon hire or will be provided after employment. Must possess and maintain a valid state of Iowa driver's license. Vaccination Requirement: COVID 19 vaccination is required and available for employees. Takes steps to promptly correct hazardous conditions Regularly participates in training and education in safety practices and procedures, such as annual OSHA training. Participates in department's Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness Activities Is aware of the general contents of department's Emergency Operations Plan Identifies role in Emergency Preparedness and Response Identifies department's chain of command and management system for emergency response Participates in Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness drills Qualifications NIMS (National Incident Management System) Complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within six months of employment. The NIMS planning/logistics/finance team has several key functions including collection, evaluation, and dissemination of tactical information; providing facilities, services, and materials; and assisting with decisions related to costs and financial considerations. Emergency Duty Responsibilities, as a member of the NIMS planning/logistics/finance team you may be required to assist and respond to activities related to disaster and emergencies (including acts of bioterrorism), which may occur outside normal working conditions and hours. Required Qualifications/Experience A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years experience in related field and/or an Associate or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (ex: human services or education). Required Knowledge and Skills Basic knowledge of general/standard office and administrative procedures and methods. Basic data entry and word processing skills may be required. Familiarity with directly applicable departmental policy or procedure is required. Oral and written communication skills sufficient to provide routine information, greet visitors, answer inquiries, and refer calls.
