The Intake and Assessment Specialist provides assessments and referrals to individuals seeking behavioral health treatment services. Gathers clinical, demographic and insurance information to assist physician in determining the most appropriate treatment service and provider for the patient. Works in the Emergency Department as well as completing consults throughout the medical hospital/campus managing access to Behavioral Health services. Obtains necessary insurance approvals and benefits verification for recommended service, makes referrals to community service providers when appropriate. All intake and assessment staff will provide ongoing clinical care to all psychiatric patients admitted to the Behavioral Health area of the Emergency Department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate from an accredited school with a Masters Degree in Social Work, or Counseling.
