Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee
: Job Details :

The purpose of this job is to operate a wastewater treatment plant in a training capacity. This position works under close supervision according to set procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ TYPICAL TASKS Learns to operate a wastewater treatment plant; takes samples; performs routine tests; helps to ensure proper plant operation; maintains records and files. Makes regular inspection of plant and equipment to ascertain that it is always in proper operation. Collects samples for testing; performs tests relating to plant operations. Checks all plant equipment and biological and chemical systems for proper operation and takes necessary corrective actions. Makes changes in plant process as necessary to improve plant efficiency. Reads meters, gauges and dials and keeps logs of readings. Reports needs for equipment repairs. Back washes filters; fills chemical feeder hoppers.
