To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and/or repair of City streets, parks and related facilities. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED - Receives general supervision from supervisory and management staff. May exercise technical supervision over less experienced staff within assigned work unit. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS - This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series. Incumbents initially perform the more routine duties assigned to positions in this series and work under close supervision. However, as experience is gained, incumbents are expected to perform the full range of duties as assigned with increasing independence. This class is distinguished from the Senior Maintenance Worker level in that the latter performs the most complex duties and has lead supervisory responsibility.
