The Brighton Police Recruit attends a State of Colorado Basic Police Academy chosen by the police department. The recruit attends the academy full time and at the conclusion of the academy must successful pass the State of Colorado POST Certification battery of tests to obtain a State of Colorado Basic Peace Officer Certification. Police Recruits who successfully complete the approved academy and obtain a State of Colorado Basic Peace Officer Certification will be promoted to Police Officer. This position must work well independently and with teams, interfacing with the public, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED - Under the supervision of the Training Commander. Under the supervision of the academy staff.
