Racial Equity and Multicultural Engagement Specialist (REMES)YWCA Mission Statement YWCA Rock County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Job Summary This position is committed to developing meaningful relationships with employees, youth, families, and community partners which is important to the success of the YWCA Rock County. The REMES will take primary responsibility for executing DEI strategies, supporting the organization in creating a welcoming culture of inclusion, and ensuring the sustained execution for Racial Equity and Multicultural Initiatives and Programs. The vision of the YWCA of Rock County is to seek to understand the differences that exist in diverse cultures and races, to celebrate those differences when appropriate, with the hope that one day race-based inequities are eliminated. Major Responsibilities 1. Manage an Operational Budget of $100,000 to $150,000. 2. This position absorbs a low to medium level of risk for the organization in the daily responsibility of the safety of others, participants are served through activities such as events, adult learning, partner-based programs, and an Annual Conference. Examples of operational tasks performed:
  • Creating relationships with employees, partners, volunteers and donors; raising the profile of the YWCA in the community.
  • Develop objectives and action steps for Strategic Planning development and implementation.
  • Identify program needs and growth, develop and execute program plans, and perform ongoing evaluation of services.

  • Provide oversight to programs components in DEI related grants
  • Manage program operations within the approved budget. Seek funding by making presentations, assisting and collaborating with our Director of Donor Engagement and Grants to write grants that support our program outcomes.
  • Conduct community education/training related to the program's purpose.
Develop training curriculum and standards based on evidence based and best practices. 3. The REMES supervises interns and/or volunteers when needed to fulfill its mission. o Responsible for the effective leadership of volunteer or interns including participating in the onboarding/hiring process, on-the-job training, performance management to include counseling, motivating, disciplinary actions and performance reviews. 4. This position also participates internally on other organizational committees, management meetings, and may be asked to take a leadership role in presenting and training staff. This position will participate in external, community like-minded organizations and build partnerships and/or collaborations. As relationships are built, there is an expectation to nurture these organizational relationships for the sustainability of the program and the reputation of the YWCA of Rock County. Example of community partnerships: Diversity Action Team, NAACP, Elite Ladies of Beloit, Rock County, Blackhawk Technical College, School Districts of Janesville and Beloit, UW Whitewater Rock County, Beloit College, etc. 5. Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission and programs. 6. Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of DEI or related degree with at least 3-5 years of experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the subject matter area of this field.
