JOB TITLE:Vice President of Fund Development and Community Engagement

FSLA STATUS:Exempt

PROGRAM AREA:Administration

JOB OBJECTIVE:Plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive fund development program that provides a broad base of financial and volunteer support for Oasis Center while building and strengthening relationships within the community. Direct key strategic initiatives as determined by the agency's strategic plan in consultation with the President and CEO.

Fundraising and Donor Relations

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Development and Community Relations department, advancing all fundraising efforts with a strategic focus on mid- and major-level giving.
  • Design and execute a development plan aligned with the organization's vision and growth goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of fundraising: major gifts, events, grants, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
  • Partner with the President and CEO to engage donors, cultivate new communities, and represent the agency externally.
  • Manage a portfolio of key donors and prospects to deepen engagement and giving.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase donor retention and satisfaction.
  • Engage staff and board members in donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Lead strategic initiatives tied to the agency's strategic plan.
  • Oversee the donor management system to ensure accurate gift processing, maintain up-to-date donor records, and provide timely acknowledgments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board Development Committee.
  • Prepare fundraising reports and evaluate campaign effectiveness.

Research

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with board members, staff, and supporters to identify donor prospects aligned with youth issues.
  • Work with Program Directors to identify funding opportunities.
  • Analyze trends and recommend funding proposals.

Writing

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with leadership on the timely submission of grant proposals and required funder reports.
  • Draft reports, letters, and documents as needed by the President and CEO.

Community Relations

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the President and CEO and program staff to promote Oasis Center's mission throughout Middle Tennessee.
  • Oversee the production of the annual report and assigned publications.
  • Lead the annual campaign, special events, and volunteer engagement.

Administration

Essential Functions:

  • Provide training, supervision, and support to development staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Serve on the Executive Team and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Develop and manage the Development and Community Relations budget.
  • Attend agency and board meetings as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the President and CEO on revenue projections and expenditure monitoring.
  • Represent the agency on relevant committees and task forces when appropriate.

Public Relations and Marketing

  • Develop and execute an effective marketing campaign that aligns with our company objectives.
  • Analyze performance metrics to adjust and enhance marketing initiatives.
  • Remain up to date on marketing trends, technology and changes.
  • Partner and collaborate with other departments to promote community engagement.
  • Create and maintain good relationships with media outlets to secure positive media coverage of our company programs and services.
  • Develop promotional and educational material and expand the company's social media presence.

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards:

  • Proven success in raising over $1 million annually, preferably in Middle Tennessee.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain donor relationships.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across stakeholders and support executive leadership and the board.
  • Skilled in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) and other technology.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor engagement strategies.
  • Understanding of nonprofit operations and change management.
  • Familiarity with annual giving, events, and volunteer engagement.
  • Strong ties to Middle Tennessee's civic and business community.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff and volunteers.
  • Marketing knowledge and experience creating and implementing a marketing campaign.
  • Must be creative, innovative and forward thinking.
  • Skilled in interpreting analytics and data.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
