Key Responsibilities Trade Compliance
- Manage the Global Trade Compliance Program, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement global trade and compliance policies, SOPs, audit programs, and training.
- Maintain HTS and ECCN classifications and ensure accurate country-of-origin documentation.
- Responsible for customer USMCA transactions including compliance, documentation and recordkeeping.
- Oversee export/import licensing, regulatory filings, restricted 3rd party screening.
- Act as the primary liaison for U.S. Customs, BIS, OFAC, Census Bureau, and other regulatory bodies.
- Conduct internal audits and manage responses to governmental inquiries or investigations.
- Submit binding ruling requests and write formal compliance memos and opinions.
- Coordinate with IT to develop compliance support within ERP systems.
- Global Logistics and Transportation
- Oversee all international transportation activities, including ocean, air, and surface shipments.
- Select, negotiate, and manage relationships with international and domestic carriers and customs brokers.
- Monitor freight charges, manage invoices, and lead cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure all international shipping documentation is accurate and legally compliant.
- Support and improve distribution logistics and inventory movement for global warehouses.
- Provide transportation quotes and routing support for customer and vendor shipments.
- Facilitate offshore shipments and quotes (HI, AK, PR, Guam) and domestic LTL and FTL.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of global trade laws and U.S. regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, US CBP, ISPM 15, VGM, ISF etc.)
- Strong understanding of international transportation and logistics operations
- Proven experience developing compliance programs and managing audits
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in global trade compliance and logistics
