Position Summary:

Specializes in the areas of coworker benefits, leaves of absence, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and training. Responsible for the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions:

Benefits and Leaves of Absence 20%

  • Performs benefits management
  • Creates proposals and recommendations for updates, additions, or deletions to benefits package
  • Conducts annual non-discrimination testing
  • Administers all leaves of absences and accommodations including FMLA and ADA
  • Administers workers compensation claims, annual audits, and maintains OSHA safety logs

Co-Worker Relations 20%

  • Counsels and coaches supervisors and co-workers on employee relations
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations
  • Clarifies policies and procedures
  • Advises on employment laws

Training, Development, and Performance 20%

  • Administers and organizes supervisor meetings and training
  • Conducts and organizes coworker training including Bankwide Human Resources training and culture training
  • Oversees and implements coworker development programs
  • Oversees the Banks training program as it relates to Human Resources
  • Organizes and launches performance review process and assists with goal creation

Recruitment 20%

  • Source and identify qualified talent for mid-high level positions
  • Responsible for efficient applicant cycle including screening, interviewing, and generating job offers
  • Performs background and credit checks
  • Acts as an advisor to hiring managers

Human Resource Administration 15%

  • Knowledge expert with the HRIS system
  • Provides recommendations and updates to policies and procedures
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for Bank co-workers
  • Provides backup for payroll including running payroll twice per year
  • Maintains co-worker records and files
  • Provides annual budget estimates for personnel expenses including payroll, taxes, & benefits
  • Backup the HR Team

Additional Duties and Responsibilities 5%

  • Participates in Bank committees as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required

Requirements

Work Relationships and Scope:

Works regularly with all co-workers for the purpose of obtaining or providing information. Works regularly with applicants. Works regularly with suppliers/vendors and federal/state government and regulatory agencies. Works occasionally with professional affiliations. Works regularly with highly confidential co-worker information. Occasionally participates in Bank events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A minimum of a bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or related field, or 2-year degree paired with 5-years of experience in HR, payroll, and/or benefits experience. Previous HRIS experience preferred. Experience in banking or financial industry preferred. SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting professionally with co-workers. Must possess strong organizational and follow-up skills; basic mathematical skills; technical ability to input and retrieve computerized information; ability to deal effectively with time pressures and stress. Must possess effective problem solving, technical research, and investigative skills. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker and effectively meet deadlines. Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the areas of employment, payroll, and benefits.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed largely in an office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Regular contact with co-workers. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel (air or auto) is required for business and education. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage required. Regular use of telephone; regular, repetitive use of keyboard for approximately 5 hours per day. Requires ability to receive and provide detailed information through verbal and written communication. Requires near and mid-range vision. Will sit for the majority of the workday but may alternate sitting, standing, and walking throughout work shift. Bend, turn, lift and carry up to 10 pounds of documents and office supplies; climb stairs. Hours of work are generally during regular business hours. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, community events, and other concerns.

Equipment Used:

Operates personal computer in a Windows environment for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet, e-fax, and other Bank specific software. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including printer, copy machine, paper shredder, scanner, and multi-line telephone.
