Salary : $67,872.00 AnnuallyLocation : Bellingham, WAJob Type: Exempt/ProfessionalJob Number: 2025-00012Department: Student Financial ResourcesOpening Date: 06/23/2025Closing Date: Continuous Description The Financial Wellness Coordinator works to equip students with resources and knowledge they need to confidently manage finances while maintaining academic success. The Coordinator develops and provides financial wellness programming for new and continuing students who are under-resourced with specialized programming tailored for students supporting children/dependents. Programming includes workshops presented to groups of students, organizing on-campus quarterly events, and providing holistic individualized support. All financial wellness activities and programming are intended to be low barrier, compassionate and non-judgmental. The Coordinator assists with the development and evaluation of a financial wellness hub and partners with staff providing basic needs programming and emergency financial assistance. The hub supports the success of students through a strengths-based approach including formal and informal supports and provides referral to campus and community resources.Bellingham Technical College (BTC) is a premier higher education institution working to provide student-centered, high quality professional technical education throughout Whatcom County and is the only technical college serving northwest Washington State. Bellingham Technical College invites applications for one full-time, professional exempt grant-funded position as a Financial Wellness Coordinator. This position is not represented by a union and is at-will. It is Fair Labor Standards (FLSA) eligible for overtime. The position is funded from grant funds for approximately five years. Although it is expected to continue into the next fiscal year, July 1, 2025, grant funded positions are temporary, dependent upon project funding, and can end at any time funding is discontinued. This position reports to the Executive Director of Student Financial Resources. It is expected to begin by September 1, 2025. Position Duties & Responsibilities Plan and deliver financial wellness programming such as presentations, one-on-one meetings with students and other events that are responsive to the needs of a diverse student populationProvide direct support to new students as follow-up to initial advising sessions that include timelines and identification of the next steps to secure fundsProvide students with referrals to services at BTC and from community partners that help students meet their financial needsAssist with outreach to students who received emergency funding to connect them with long-term funding opportunities available from campus and community resourcesDevelop and send timely communication to ensure students are aware of dates and deadlines related to applying for and maintaining eligibility for financial resourcesAssist students with completing applications and processes for funding such as financial aid applications (FAFSA/WASFA), and public benefits programs (Basic Food/SNAP, child care, housing)Co-lead the development, management and evaluation of an on-campus center supporting financial wellness programmingCollaborate with partner agencies such as the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the Washington Employment Security Department, WorkSource Washington and Opportunity Council in supporting financial resources, childcare, and employment opportunitiesSupport the development of new community partnerships to increase resources for studentsCollaborate with campus departments to connect and coordinate student support programs including advising, tutoring, counseling and financial aidMaintain accurate records, prepare reports, and track program outcomes and impact for evaluation purposesCollaborate with staff from BTC's Institutional Planning & Assessment office to evaluate program outcomes and address strategies for continuous improvementAdditional workEffectively utilize computerized systems and software including MS Office products, PeopleSoft (ctcLink), Customer Relations Management systemsMay require occasional travel within WA State for meetingsPerform other related duties as assignedPhysical Work Environment: Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods of time, ability to work in an open office setting and to work with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions; work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands. This position requires some local and state travel. Qualifications QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution;Relevant work experience providing support or guidance to individuals in educational, nonprofit or social service setting;Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students/clients and collaborate with internal and external partners;Skilled in preparing and delivering presentations, or workshops with compelling contentExperience supporting or contributing to the development of programs or servicesAbility to work independently and within a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectivelyORA combination of experience and training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job will be considered.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, counseling, social work, human services, education, or a related field;Work experience with public benefits or funding programs such as Basic Food/SNAP, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, housing assistance, childcare, financial aid etc.;Experience collaborating with external community partners and maintaining effective working relationships in support of advancing needs of a program;Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to public benefits programs is an advantage. Supplemental Information Compensation, Work Schedule, and Benefits: Salary is $5,656 per month; $32.63 per hour. Work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A regular schedule will be finalized upon hire. Schedule may be hybrid with some in person and some remote work as arranged with supervisor. Candidate must be willing to work on-site for all or a portion of their schedule. Leave eligibility, use and cash-out is based on BTC Policy 525.2. Although considered temporary , for leave purposes only, this position is designated as Regular and will be provided under the following criterial: This position will receive 8 hours per month of sick leave, 16 hours per month of vacation leave, 3 personal leave days (24 hours) and paid state/college holidays. Vacation is eligible for cash-out at the end of the assignment.
