Job Summary Assist in the coordination and monitoring of the Department's athletic and sports programs. Examples of work performed: Supervises temporary seasonal workers and scorekeepers, hires, schedules, trains, and oversees workers; monitors and orders concession and facility and equipment supplies as needed. Monitors weather conditions and directs closing of facilities in case of inclement weather; monitors athletic facilities, resolves or directs solutions to any problems identified. Processes the registration and scheduling of all athletic activities, including leagues, camps, special events, and tournaments. Maintains all league records and registration information and collects and accounts for all fees and charges relating to athletic programs of the department. Assists in the planning and coordination of all instructional and educational seminars, including clinics. Assists in recruiting coaches for and supervising leagues. Coordinates youth All-Sports clinics. Publicizes all aspects of athletic programs. Performs related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of field maintenance procedures Knowledge of gymnasium operations and maintenance Knowledge of computer operation Knowledge of sports rules including softball, baseball, t-ball, soccer, basketball, badminton, volleyball, and other indoor and outdoor sports. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to maintain records and accurately prepare reports Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends Ability to use scheduling software and experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher or equivalent Ability to accurately account for money, i.e. balance and reconcile cash drawer Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and co-workers requires excellent communication skills and ability to work well with people. Requires ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Qualifications The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through attainment of a High School diploma or equivalent, plus two to three years of experience in administration of athletics and sports programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Tennessee driver's license is required. Clerical and financial record-keeping experience preferred. Essential Functions Essential job duties require incumbent to occasionally stand, sit, reach with hands or arms, climb or balance. Required to frequently walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Work environment is moderate noisy (e.g., busy office or light traffic). Must be able to pass limited background check.
