About the Transportation Business Unit

At ms consultants, inc., we provide comprehensive transportation engineering services for projects of all sizes from major interstate systems to local roads. Our services include roadway and intersection design, corridor improvements, bridge replacement and rehabilitation, and environmental documentation. Our team of engineers works closely to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation solutions that benefit communities and enhance infrastructure across the region.

What You'll Do:

In this role, youll design complex interstate geometrics and local road projects. Depending on your experience, you may also lead a design team, with growth potential. Key responsibilities include:

• Roadway Design: Design and prepare plans for highway and local road projects.
• Quality Assurance: Lead internal reviews to ensure plans meet technical standards.
• Mentorship: Guide and support junior engineers in their professional development.
• Proposal Development: Assist in preparing and negotiating project proposals.
• Project Scheduling and Budgeting: Develop schedules, cost estimates, and ensure timely, within-budget project delivery.
• Client Interaction: Build and maintain strong client relationships through presentations and communication.
• Scope and Change Management: Recognize scope changes and assist with contract negotiations.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to execute projects successfully.

What You'll Bring:

We seek an experienced engineer with the technical skills and leadership qualities to succeed. The ideal candidate will have:

• Roadway Design Experience: Proficiency in designing plans for interstate and local roads, with ODOT design experience preferred.
• Licensing: A PE license in Ohio or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and ODOT standards.
• Software Skills: Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD.
• Project Management: Experience managing projects, proposals, timelines, and budgets.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Experience mentoring or managing teams, with collaborative and independent work skills.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Educational Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
